Thank you!
We’re thrilled to hear your school has a GSA club – thank you for working to make your campus safer and more welcoming for all your students! The Texas GSA Network is here to support you and your club’s advisor/s in teaching students leadership skills, brainstorming ideas for inclusive activities, and helping make your club sustainable for years to come.
Please share your school’s name and district and your GSA club sponsor’s name and email address.
Additional recommendations for creating safer schools for all students include comprehensive and enumerated anti-bullying policies at the district level, access to LGBTQ-related resources and curricula, and professional development on LGBTQ+ competency for school staff. If you would like to discuss any of these topics in-depth please feel free to add yourself to my calendar at your convenience.
I’d also love to invite you and your club’s sponsor/s to our Statewide monthly meet up! This virtual meeting will welcome school staff from across Texas to discuss the challenges and benefits of GSA clubs, as well as any lessons learned regarding creating safe spaces for LGBTQIA+ students.
Please make a meeting with our TX GSA Network Coordinator or email tez.figueroa@outyouth.org
If you can’t make it to our monthly meet ups, don’t worry! In the meantime, if y’all have any questions or need any support around keeping your school one where all students feel safe and welcome, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help!
